What it is
MARÉA is a concept brand I made up, a private estate and villa group. There is no real MARÉA and no client paid for it. I built it to fix a problem I kept seeing on genuine luxury hospitality sites.
They open with a beautiful video in the hero. Then you scroll once and the whole thing collapses into flat white boxes and stock icons. The feeling dies at the first scroll, and the feeling was the only reason anyone stayed.
What you see when you open it
A warm gold villa scene that keeps moving behind everything, from the first pixel to the footer. The writing arrives over it in acts. Welcome home to start, then The Residences, The Grounds and The Service, then a line that drifts past reading where the days lose count, and it closes on some places are kept, not sold.
The camera pushes in gently as you go, so the page feels like it is walking you in rather than scrolling you down.
How it was built
- The footage is AI generated, then cut into 231 individual frames across two clips. The frame on screen is tied directly to your scroll position, so scrolling scrubs the film.
- The canvas is fixed behind the page. Content sits over it, and each act carries its own dark gradient so light text stays readable no matter how bright the frame underneath gets.
- Smooth scroll, a custom cursor on desktop, and a small parallax that follows your pointer.
- Redraws are checked before they happen, so when you stop scrolling the page draws nothing at all. That is what keeps a phone from getting hot.
- Blur filters and blend modes over the moving canvas were pulled out on purpose. They look free and they are the fastest way to make a site like this feel broken.
What it demonstrates
Holding one mood across a whole page instead of one screen. Anyone can put a video in a hero. Keeping it alive underneath the pricing section and the contact form is the harder half, and it is the half a hotel, estate agent or venue actually needs.
It also shows the discipline behind it. A moving backdrop is quick to build and slow to get right. Most of the work here was making it stay fast.
